Use application search in transaction SAIS_SEARCH_APPL
Analyse and evaluate permissions using SAP Query
Since SAP NetWeaver 7.02, such a feature is available, which means that you can access the data from the system trace to maintain PFCG roles. In the following we show you how you can apply the permission values from the permission trace to your role. To do this, you must first record applications against their permission checks and then add them to your role menu.
Despite progressive use of web interfaces in the S/4HANA context, batch processing for mass data is still required. However, our experience from customer projects shows that only very few authorization administrators know how to correctly authorize the scenarios. SAP OSS Note 101146 provides a good overview here. In this blog post, we would like to summarize the context for practical use.
Include customising tables in the IMG
In SAP systems you always have the possibility to integrate custom developments. In such extensions or your own programmes, you must implement permission checks and may also create your own authorization objects. You can also supplement authorisation checks in standard transactions if the existing checks do not cover your requirements.
Without generic table logging, certain changes in the system are not traceable. Learn how to turn on table logging in the system for a large set of tables. The SAP system writes change documents for most changes - but not all. Specifically, changes to tables in which the customising is performed are not recorded in the modification documents. This may lead to a lack of comprehensibility of changes. Avoid this by basically enabling table logging and then setting logging for specific additional tables. You should always enable table logging for all clients. However, during a release upgrade it may be necessary to temporarily disable table logging.
Assigning a role for a limited period of time is done in seconds with "Shortcut for SAP systems" and allows you to quickly continue your go-live.
We recommend that you install the support package that is appropriate for your release, which is specified in the SAP Note, because inserting the hint requires a lot of manual work.
An exception is the release of background jobs; it is protected by a permission.
