ICS for business processes in SAP systems
Transactions: Transactions in the audit structure start the necessary evaluations for the audit. You can recognise transactions by the clock symbol ( ). Double-clicking on the icon opens the transaction in a new window and allows you to start the evaluation. In addition, the SAIS transaction log entries for this audit activity are displayed in the upper right pane of the display. These include the current date of execution, the verifier's user ID, a check status that you assign yourself, a weighting, and a justification for the check status that you also enter into a text box. Below is an overview of the audit activities performed so far, also with a time stamp, the user ID of the verifier, the weighting of the status of the audit activity and a justification. In order not to manipulate the scanning activities, it is not possible to modify data stored once.
In the SAP system, passwords are locked when the maximum number of allowed password login errors is reached. This counter is reset with a password each time you successfully log in. In addition, an initial password can be locked when its validity has expired. Both the validity of the initial password and the maximum value for password login errors are set using profile parameters. For details, see Tip 4, "Set password parameters and valid passwords characters". A password lock only prevents a user from logging in via his password, because the number of errors is only evaluated if the login is done by password. If a login is now made via other authentication methods (such as SSO), these are not affected by the password lock. This also applies to internal expiration procedures (such as background jobs) because you do not need to register a password. This prevents, for example, denial-of-service attacks, which first cause a password to be locked in order to block internal processes.
Structural authorizations
Structural authorizations work with SAP HCM Organizational Management. They primarily define who can be seen, but not what can be seen, based on evaluation paths in the org tree. Therefore, structural authorizations should only be used together with general authorizations. The determination works via a so-called authorization profile. In this profile, the evaluation paths are used to define how to search on the org tree. Function modules can also be stored, which can be used to determine objects from Organizational Management using any criteria. This makes the structural authorizations very flexible.
Is it necessary for your evaluations to select the blocked or invalid users? This is now directly possible with the extensions of the user information system. There is always a requirement to evaluate the existing users in your SAP system. Examples may include lists requested by auditors. In such a case, you naturally want to exclude invalid users and those with administrator lock from the selection. Up to now, you have had to perform various evaluations with the reports RSUSR200 and RSUSR002 of the user information system (transaction SUIM) and subsequently edit the lists. The findings may not have been accepted by the auditors as the lists were visibly manipulated, even if this manipulation was justified. You can now enter this selection directly. We will show you below how to search for users with password or administrator lock or exclude them from your selection.
The possibility of assigning authorizations during the go-live can be additionally secured by using "Shortcut for SAP systems".
However, this is particularly relevant for tax audits.
Small companies would theoretically benefit from an authorization tool.
