Controlling file access permissions
Security in development systems
With the SAP NetWeaver 7.03 and 7.30 releases, Web Dynpro ABAP applications (as well as other Web Dynpro ABAP functions, see SAP Note 1413011) have been tested for permission to launch such applications. The authorization object that controls this startup permission is S_START. This authorization object is used in the same way as the S_TCODE authorization object.

Now check the SY-SUBRC system variable. If the value is 0, the Permissions Check succeeded. If the value is 4, the test did not pass. At a value of 8, there is an inconsistency in the definition of the authorization object and the verification in the code - this should not happen! If the value is 12, the permission is not part of your permission buffer.

The proposed values in the SU24 transaction are an imperative for the maintenance of PFCG roles, as these values are used when creating PFCG roles. The better these values are maintained, the less effort is required to maintain the PFCG roles (see figure next page). You may ask yourself in which cases it makes sense to adjust the proposed values, since they have such a large impact on the maintenance of roles.

The next step is to maintain the permission values. Here, too, you can take advantage of the values of the permission trace. When you switch from the Role menu to the Permissions tab, you will generate startup permissions for all applications on the Role menu and display default permissions from the permissions suggestions. You can now add these suggested values to the trace data by clicking the button trace in the Button bar.

If you get into the situation that authorizations are required that were not considered in the role concept, "Shortcut for SAP systems" allows you to assign the complete authorization for the respective authorization object.

The dialogue user is therefore the most frequently used user type.

On the one hand the content of the RFCDES table is checked and on the other hand the corresponding user properties of the system users are displayed as an overview.
