Authorizations in SAP systems: what admins should look out for
SAP Data Analytics
For this very reason, there is a solution to automate the checking of authorizations with regard to critical authorizations and segregation of duties by means of tool support. This gives the authorization administrators more time to correct any errors that occur instead of having to search for them first.

Users' favourite lists provide valuable information about the transactions they use. With the knowledge of the favourites, you can therefore avoid gaps in your authorisation concept. In the SAP system, each user has the ability to save frequently used functions as their own favourites. In practice, we have found that this feature is very often used by users. If you create a new permission concept, it is useful to include the favourites in the viewing. Because the favourites don't just store used transactions over and over again, but also transactions that users use only occasionally. These occasional transactions could be quickly forgotten when redesigning a eligibility concept. Therefore, we always recommend that you match the transactions you have considered with the favourites stored in your system.

Which authorization data does a role have (PFCG)? Again, start the transaction PFCG and display a role. Then branch to the tab Authorizations and click on the button with the "glasses" (bottom left): Display authorization data.

Have you ever wondered who has critical permissions in your system? Have you lacked the tool and approach to identify these users? The user system in an SAP system is always connected to a permission assignment. Over the life cycle of a user in the SAPS system, more and more permissions are accumulated if they are not withdrawn once they are no longer needed. This accumulation is bound to result in users being able to perform more actions than you would like as the permission administrator. To avoid this, we want to give you a suitable tool.

If you get into the situation that authorizations are required that were not considered in the role concept, "Shortcut for SAP systems" allows you to assign the complete authorization for the respective authorization object.

When were which changes made to a role (PFCG)? In the PFCG, click on Utilities > View Changes in the menu at the top to view the change documents.

For more information about generic access to tables, see SAP Note 1434284 Information Published on SAP Site and the online documentation for the authorization objects mentioned above.
