Analyse and evaluate permissions using SAP Query
Maintain derived roles
No external services can be added manually in transaction SU24. To do this, you must turn on a permission trace that takes over. You can enable the permission trace using the auth/authorisation_trace dynamic profile parameter. You can enable this parameter by using the transaction RZ11 (Profile Parameter Maintenance) by entering the value Y as a new value and selecting the Switch to All Servers setting.

Users' favourite lists provide valuable information about the transactions they use. With the knowledge of the favourites, you can therefore avoid gaps in your authorisation concept. In the SAP system, each user has the ability to save frequently used functions as their own favourites. In practice, we have found that this feature is very often used by users. If you create a new permission concept, it is useful to include the favourites in the viewing. Because the favourites don't just store used transactions over and over again, but also transactions that users use only occasionally. These occasional transactions could be quickly forgotten when redesigning a eligibility concept. Therefore, we always recommend that you match the transactions you have considered with the favourites stored in your system.
Role Management
A far more elaborate way is the identification via the business roll customising. Here you first identify the technical name of the area start page or the logical link in the customising of your business role in the CRMC_UI_PROFILE transaction. If you have an area start page, check the technical name of the corresponding logical link. The next step is to switch to the navigation bar customising in the transaction CRMC_UI_NBLINKS and identify to the technical name of your logical link the corresponding target ID in the View Define logical link. If you use the target ID as the search parameter in the CRMC_UI_COMP_IP table, you will get the information about component name, component window, and inbound plug as the search result.

The AL08 transaction displays all logged-in users and their application servers. In the Server Name column, you can see which application server the user is logged on to, and which has the permission issue. Switch to this application server by calling the SM51 transaction and double-clicking the application server you are looking for. On the application server that is now active, run the permission trace as usual and review the evaluation.

For the assignment of existing roles, regular authorization workflows require a certain minimum of turnaround time, and not every approver is available at every go-live. With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you have options to assign urgently needed authorizations anyway and to additionally secure your go-live.

Here you can check whether there are parameter or variant transactions for a given table, or for a particular view, for which you can set up permissions, instead of allowing access to the table through generic table access tools.

If you select Show Profile Parameters in this selection view, you will see an overview of the Profile Parameters settings in the upper half of the screen.
