High Availability ( HA/DR ) concepts
Data backup and recovery
In the area of SAP Basis it is necessary to make temporary changes in the security settings of the clients and systems in the course of system updates. You can use the system changeability variable to specify whether changeability of cross-client data, such as programs or menus, as well as client-independent customizing is allowed.

Within SAP R/3 Enterprise, the SAP Basis Plug-In is a prerequisite for you to use the SAP R/3 Plug-In. SAP Basis Plug-In and SAP R/3 Plug-In must always have the same release level, for example PI 2004.1 and PI Basis 2004.1. If you plan to upgrade SAP R/3 Plug-In within SAP R/3 Enterprise, you must also upgrade SAP Basis Plug-In. As of SAP Basis Plug-In 2005.1, the release levels of the two plug-ins no longer need to correspond. However, the SAP R/3 Plug-In Support Package for PI 2004.1, which contains new interfaces, still requires a specific SAP Basis Plug-In. For example, SAP R/3 Plug-In Support Package 10 for SAP Plug-In 2004.1 requires SAP Basis Plug-In 2005.1.
SQ03 User group maintenance
If all tasks considered to be an interface theme are supported by the SAPBasis, this means a very wide range of tasks. Here it is necessary not to overwhelm the own employees within the SAP basis and to keep the complexity of different topics and technologies manageable per capita. Therefore, a corresponding growth is associated with this interface task. This recommendation is general and does not apply only to the SAP basis.

The second component of the application layer is the message server. It acts as a kind of "mediator" between the services and the applications.

"Shortcut for SAP Systems" simplifies tasks in the area of the SAP basis and complements missing functions of the standard.

These permissions are expressed in a role by permission objects, as in any ABAP report.

However, tools are available that automatically check for critical permissions.
